Net Literacy has been selected to serve as a chapter editor in the Telecom 2018 plan online publication. Daniel Kent has been named as the Chapter Editor, representing Net Literacy.
The Telecom 2018 Plan represents an experiment in social production addressing the telecom industry’s transition to all IP networks. The project seeks to create an open resource for industry participants to contribute ideas on best practices and opportunities. The resulting roadmap should help facilitate the transition to all IP networks.
The organizers believe there exists a deep resource of expertise among the 2mn or so people working in the industry. The approach allows open contributions and editing among registered users. The project will leverage lessons incorporated in the Wikipedia editorial control process and assign an editor-in-chief, technical editor, and policy editor as well as chapter editors.
Editors will work to maintain content quality and seek consensus for any disputed content. The Telecom 2018 Plan will exist as a living document on the web with real-time updates. The plan also includes publishing subset of the content in the form of regular and e-book versions of the Plan on a periodic basis.
