Student Created “Raw and Real” Videos For Financial Literacy Curriculum Support

Listen to (now) Net Literacy Student Chair explain why the Financial Connects initiative was visioned by Net Literacy. And by the way, these are real videos are made by real teens (not staged created by a production crew) with a day of training teaching them how to storyboard and use a video camera and an assignment to learn about financial literacy.

Thanks to a generous grants from State Farm, Lilly Endowment, the Lumina Foundation for Education and Intel, Net Literacy launched a $140,000 initiative to encourage students to learn about financial literacy and create videos about them in a real and compelling manner that resonates with teens. We launched a contest website, and now have incorporated everything into the Financial Connects website. A screen shot of the website is below.

We have populated this section of the site with 185 videos and games created by students with a focus on making financial literacy “real,” relevant, and engaging to students. Check out the links to the left to become a financial literacy savvy superstar!
