Financial Literacy Best Of Web
The 2009 “beta version” of the Financial Connects website had two primary components. First, student visioned, story boarded, scripted, stared in, produced, and edited twenty videos that were engaging and real and taught a financial literacy lesson. In 2010, twenty additional student-created videos were produced.
Net Literacy’s student volunteers knew that there were useful financial literacy websites on the Net, but identifying the best ones were a hit-and-miss effort. As a component of creating a financial literacy website, the students decided to conduct a search of more than 5000 financial literacy websites and identify the 200 most compelling videos, interactive web-based games, and financial calculators.
While it was an exhausting process, the students learned about financial literacy and what made a compelling site compelling vs. the many that were “boring.” The 200 “best of web” videos were divided into five categories:
