Net Literacy is the sole owner of the information it gathers on its site. What Information is Collected and How it is Used?
Volunteers
We collect contact information such as name, mailing address, email address, phone number, and mentor information that you include in your application. This information is used to respond to questions from independent living facilities that provide us your password. We will also provide information to your parents and mentors whenever they request and notwithstanding if they have your password.
Contact Us
We may use email links located on the site to allow you to contact us directly with any questions or comments you may have. We read every message sent in and try to reply promptly to everyone. This information is used to respond directly to your questions or comments. We may also file your comments to improve the site and program, or review and discard the information. Your personal information is only shared with third parties with your explicit permission. Parents (or guardians), mentors, and independent living facilities are not considered third parties.
Applications
Individuals may express interest in learning more about a program, such as the Senior Connect teaching methodology, by completing an application. In these cases, the Net Literacy Alliance will collect contact information such as name, company name, email address, and phone number from you, your mentor, and/or your parents/guardians. Demographic data such as your age, state, and high school are also collected. This information will be used to follow up with you on your interests. This information will be shared with third parties (such as the press) only in the aggregate – no individually identifiable or personal information will be shared. The information you provide us may be shared with parents (or guardians), mentors, and independent living facilities. Please make certain that if you connect to digital inclusion organizations in our database – their policies may vary.
Logged Files and Cookies
The Net Literacy Alliance logs all IP addresses, browser types, and other information about the technological specifications of our users. This information is used to monitor website traffic and optimize our website for our users. The information collected does not include any information that could be used to personally identify our users without a court order.
Certain third-parties have access to this information because they analyze the data for us. This analysis is done using computers and we believe no human from a third-party will see this data. We will not sell or distribute this information to any third-party not associated with analysis of it. In the case of abuse of our website, we are authorized to distribute collected information to local, state, and federal law organizations.

The Net Literacy Alliance contracts with a third party to assist us in managing certain functions on our Web site, such as hosting our website. How to Access and Update User Information
Reasonable access to personally identifiable information will be provided within 30 days at no cost to the user. If access cannot be provided within that timeframe, the Net Literacy Alliance will provide the user a date when the information will be provided. If for some reason access is denied, the Net Literacy Alliance will provide an explanation as why access has been denied.

Protecting your privacy and your information is a top priority at the Net Literacy Alliance. We have taken careful measures to prevent the loss, misuse, and alteration of your information. Once we receive your information that we consider as confidential, it is stored behind a firewall. All Net Literacy Alliance volunteers are aware of our privacy and security policies. Your information is only accessible to those employees who need it in order to perform their jobs. However, most of the information placed on this website is to promote digital inclusion information and there will likely be very little confidential information that we receive.
