Best Suggestion that enhances the Net Literacy or Senior Connects program - a $100 US Government Savings Bond will be awarded every twelve months. Suggestions can be submitted by anyone and at anytime to recognition@netliteracy.org. Suggestions that focus on enhancing, improving, or expanding the Senior Connects/Net Literacy program will be given highest consideration. The winner will be selected during the first quarter of each year and posted on the website. Members of the Board of Advisors, Board of Directors, and officers are welcomed to submit suggestions, but are not eligible for an award.

Certificate of Success - based upon three months of service and a recommendation from a facility (Independent or an Assisted Care Facility, a senior facility, community center, or a under served apartment complex), each member will receive a letter which will serve as a Certificate of Success, upon request. When possible, Net Literacy will coordinate the presentation of this recognition with the applicable facility, the individual's sponsoring organization (e.g. the Boy Scouts of America if the Net Literacy program is being used to qualify for the Eagle Scout's service requirement), school, or other organization of the individual's choice. To qualify for this recognition, please send the following information to recognition@netliteracy.org:

  1. Applicant's name, address, phone number (with area code), and email address.
  2. Mentor's name, address, phone number (with area code), and email address.
  3. Name of contact person at the Facility together with address, phone number (with area code), and email address.
  4. One paragraph of what you gained and what you feel you gave the residents during this period. Note: Unless you specify otherwise, Net Literacy may post insightful quotes or excerpts upon its websites at its discretion.

The VIP Award - The Net Literacy Board of Directors may decide to award the individual making the most significant contribution contributing to the Net Literacy program an award of up to $2,500. This person’s contribution will be detailed on the Net Literacy website. This honoree will not be related to any board member or officer of Net Literacy.

The Net Literacy Board of Directors may also decide to recognize regional winners that make an extraordinary contribution. Regional winners will receive a recognition award of up to $500. There is no maximum or minimum number of regional winners, and the number will be determined by the board of directors. This person’s contribution will be detailed on this website.

Often times, a manager at an Independent Care Facility or community center will nominate an individual for their contribution helping teach residents basic computer and Internet skills, but all nominations including self-nomination will be accepted at anytime during the year. To qualify for this recognition, please send the following information to recognition@netliteracy.org:

  4. 1-3 digital pictures of the applicant working at the Net Literacy program.

    1. Your inspiration. Briefly explain what motivated you participate in Senior Connects. Who or what inspired you, and why did you feel it was important?

    3. Impact. What do you believe you accomplished. Did you meet your expectations?
    4. Personal growth. What did you learn from this experience? Did you acquire any new skills? What was the most memorable part of working at the Net Literacy program. Can you recall a specific incident that made you feel particularly good? What would you tell other students about your experience?

Letter of Recommendation - sometimes a letter of recommendation can significantly help when one is applying for a job or provide an edge when one is applying for a prestigious college on your "Wish List." For those individuals successfully volunteering at a Net Literacy program for six months or longer, we would be pleased to write a letter of recommendation in your behalf detailing your individual accomplishments. For us to be able to complete this, we will need you to send your request and the following information at least ninety days in advance to recognition@seniorconnects.org:

  1. Applicant's name, address, phone number (with area code), and email address.
  2. Name of the facilities helped and dates that training was provided.
  3. Name of contact person at facilities together with address, phone number (with area code), and email address.
  4. Purpose of the letter of recognition (e.g., is it for college admission, a job, or some other purpose?)
  5. Any points that you would appreciate us stressing.
  6. The address where the letter should be sent (e.g., to you so that you can include it with your application or directly to your prospective employer, college, or other organization.

This is an opportunity for Net Literacy to help you, much as you assisted others by devoting your time for this worthwhile cause. Our recommendation will mirror what the facility where you volunteered say about you - and this is great because they are grateful and appreciative for a job well done!
