We are grateful that the Indiana Humanities Council nominated Net Literacy for this prestigious event awarded at the White House, and that Dr. Greenwood seconded the nomination. Harrison College Award Net Literacy Volunteers $3,000 Scholarships
. Net Literacy increases its student volunteers’ life skills, job skills, and provides an opportunity for service to the community in a project based learning program. Harrison College, Net Literacy’s newest partner, is encouraging student success and students to progress their education by granting all Net Literacy volunteers that receive the recommendation from the faculty board member a $3,000 scholarship ($750 per year) to attend Harrison College’s IT program. Net Literacy Selected to Serve on the Institute of Museum and Library Serices Digital Inclusion Network
Net Literacy has been selected to serve as a member of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Digital Inclusion Network to review the Framework for Digitally Inclusive Communities. The National Broadband Plan (http://www.broadband.gov/plan/) calls on IMLS to “develop guidelines for public access technology” in order to increase the capacity of public libraries and community-based organizations to promote digital literacy and participation in activities that are increasingly online. Net Literacy to Showcase Successes in a Washington DC Broadband Adoption Summit Held by the US Internet Industry Association and Broadband for America
Net Literacy has been invited to showcase its successes of increasing computer access to over 150,000 individuals at a broadband adoption conference held by the US Internet Industry Association and Broadband for America on June 22nd at the Park Hyatt Washington in Washington DC. Bright House Networks Supports Net Literacy for an Eighth Year
Net Literacy is grateful that Bright House Networks took a chance on a group of middle school students that in 2004, wanted to reduce the digital divide and increase Internet safety awareness. Since then, Bright House Networks and Net Literacy have partnered together, donating more than 5,000 computers to schools and nonprofits.
